THE ILLUSIONARY IMAGE
Heidemarie Tauber
A picture can be many things. It can also create illusions or represent illusions. This image differs from an image that aims to reproduce a fact or a state of affairs by representing something that does not exist in this context. There is therefore an illusion here. The image deceives the viewer and pretends something.
On the one hand, you have to distrust it because of its power and power to deceive, but you can also enjoy it because it expands our horizons and our imagination. This has a great impact on our experiences. Perhaps we then think our experience beyond the point at which it only draws from the real world. It’s only a game, after all, but not an entirely harmless one.
